Two killed in ultralight aircraft crash

Two persons were killed when an ultralight aircraft belonging to Avia Club crashed near World Peace Stupa in Pumdi Bhumdi VDC of Kaski district on Thursday morning, according to Kaski police.
The deceased have been identified as Stephen Shrestha – the pilot of the ill-fated aircraft — and Chinese national Li John. Shrestha is also the promoter of the company.

According to eyewitness, the aircraft crashed after it hit electric wires during emergency landing.

Ultralight flights are popular among tourists in Pokhara for sightseeing and mountain views.
Along with Avia Club, Pokhara Ultralight also offers ultralight flights in the lake city.

This is the first accident in 17-year history of ultralight flights in Pokhara.
