Snowfall claims 21 lives in Annapurna region

As many as 21 persons, including 12 foreign trekkers, have died due to massive snowfall in different parts of the Annapurna Region.

According to Mustang District Administration Office, 16 dead bodies have been recovered below Thorang Pass so far. Nine of the deceased are Nepalis, three are Israelis, three from Poland and one from Vietnam. Similarly, Nepal Army (NA) has rescued 20 more. They have been flown down to Jomsom for treatment.

Similarly, five bodies have been recovered from Phu area in Manang. Four of the deceased are Canadian and one is from India. Panorama Himalaya has confirmed death of three Canadians in avalanche. It has rescued three Canadian trekkers. Similarly, Nepal Hidden Trek has confirmed death of a Canadian woman.

Likewise, seven Indian trekkers have gone missing, according to Alternative Nepal Treks.
