Number of trekkers to Langtang up 23%

The number of trekkers visiting Langtang Region over the three months ending mid-September increased by 23 percent compared to figures of the same period last year.
According to Langtang National Park, 3,592 trekkers visited the popular trekking area during the period, up from 2,912 recorded in the same period of last year.
Langtang Region is regarded third most popular trekking destination in the country after the Everest and the Annapurna Regions. The region is famous for destinations like Langtang Valley, Gosainkunda Lake and Ganesh Himal region. It is also one of the entry points to the beautiful Helambu region.
The figure includes 127 tourists from the SAARC region and about 100 from India. All other are third-country tourists.
Most of the trekkers visiting the area during the period were from countries like Germany, France, South Korea, Japan and Israel.
