Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari and Chinese envoy to Nepal Yu Hong jointly launched the new site – cn.welcomenepal.com – amid a function attended by high-ranking government officials, tourism professionals and Chinese diaspora in Kathmandu.
According to a statement issued by NTB, the website includes information about various tourism destinations of Nepal, photos and videos, different activities and things-to-do as well as necessary information for the Chinese nationals.
Speaking at the program, Minister Adhikari said that launching of website and promotional collaterals in Chinese language is expected to help increase more Chinese visitors to Nepal. “Since we are aim to welcome 1.5 million foreign tourists during Visit Nepal Year 2020, this website will play a crucial role in meeting the target,” Adhikari said.
According to a data of Department of Immigration, Nepal received a total of 36,384 Chinese tourists via air in the first quarter of 2018 compared to 34,133 visitors from India.
Adhikari also said that needful preparation was being made to add flights to some new Chinese cities from Kathmandu within few months.
Also speaking at the program, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong said that China attaches great importance to bilateral tourism cooperation and encourages more Chinese nationals to visit Nepal. “Bilateral tourism cooperation will promote people-to-people exchanges and create a harmonious atmosphere for the development of bilateral relations,” she added.
On the occasion, NTB also launched promotional videos of all seven provinces of the country.
