Altogether 10 Nepali companies are participating in China Outbound Tourism Market (COTTOM) 2018 that kicked off in Beijing of China on April 16.
The three-day event will continue till April 18.
Nepal’s participation in COTTOM 2018 is being coordinated jointly by Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
Now in 14th year, COTTOM is regarded as one of the largest tourism shows for the outbound tourism market of China.
The Nepali travel delegation will also attend a special program organized by the Nepali Embassy in Beijing, according to Sudarshan Nepal, coordinator of Nepal China Sales Mission 2018.
Along with COTTOM, NATTA is organizing Nepal China Sales Mission in four Chinese cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu. A total of 20 Nepali travel companies are participating in the Sales Mission, according to NATTA.
“These companies will participate in B2B sessions with Chinese travel companies of the four cities,” Nepal said in a press meet organized in Kathmandu before the team left for China.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, is also expected to participate in the sales mission.
China has emerged as a dependable tourism market for Nepal in recent years. According to Department of Immigration,
Total tourist arrivals from China grew by 38.04 percent to 40,976 in the first three months of 2018, compared to 29,684 in the same period of 2017.
