A Twin Otter aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) averted major accident on Friday.
Pilots successfully landed the aircraft at the Tribhuvan International Airport after it caught fire. The aircraft with 15 passengers on board had left for Lamidanda Airport in Khotang at 10:10 am. But it made emergency landing at the airport after only four minutes of take off. All passengers and crew members are safe.
According to officials of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), pilots of the aircraft with call sign 9N-ABU sought permission for emergency landing after its right engine caught fire.
Captain Shishir Baidya and Co-pilot Prashant Rai were flying the aircraft.
Nineteen passengers, including three crew-members, had died when NAC’s Twin Otter with call sign 9N-ABB crashed at Masine Lek of Argakhanchi.
