Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has started direct flights on Kathmandu-Taplejung-Kathmandu route.
The state-owned airline started flying to the eastern hilly district directly from Kathmandu from December 26. According to NAC officials, the airline will fly on the sector once a week on Thursdays.
The airline flew nine passengers to Taplejung from Kathmandu and 17 passengers to Kathmandu from Taplejung on the inaugural flight.
Earlier, the airline used to fly to Taplejung from Biratnagar once a week on Sundays. NAC is charging Rs 6,200 for the 55-minute flight.
The national flag carrier plans to increase flight frequency on the route once the new aircraft comes from China. NAC is acquiring four 19-seater Harbin Y12e and two 58-seater MA60s from China.
