The brand new Modern Ark 60 aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has finally received registration number from Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
Though the aircraft entered Nepal 43 days ago, NAC hadn’t been able to start service because of the delay in registration of the aircraft in Nepal. CAAN on Tuesday issued 9N-AKQ registration number to the 58-seater aircraft.
Now, NAC must obtain certificate of airworthiness and air operators’ certificate, among others, to start scheduled flights of the aircraft.
CAAN issued registration number to the MA60 after Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) forwarded de-registration certificate of the aircraft to it. As per the existing rule, an aircraft cannot be registered in two countries.
Meanwhile, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has directed the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) to operate the MA60 aircraft brought from China by June 29.
The anti-graft body´s direction has come at a time when the national flag carrier postponed its plan of commencing scheduled flights from June 15 after China failed to send aircraft de-registration documents on time.
The CIAA on Tuesday threatened NAC officials with action should they fail to meet the new deadline.
NAC has already published airfare and routes for the MA60.
