Usha Pathak, the wife of instructor pilot Late Prabhu Sharan Pathak, has announced ‘Prabhu Sharan Pathak Flight Safety Award’ on the first death anniversary of her husband.
According to a press release issued by Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN), the award will be handed over every year to a pilot that demonstrates exemplary works by upholding aviation safety.
A revolving fund has been created at AOAN to hand over the award. Usha is the patron of the fund which will have a seven-member working committee, including president and general secretary of AOAN and three senior pilots. The executive director of AOAN will be the secretary of the fund.
Prabhu Sharan died when a Dornier aircraft that he was commandeering met with an accident Jomsom of Mustang district on 15 June 2012.
