The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has formed a committee to come up with sustainable solutions for mitigating problems in the conservation of lakes and their sources in Pokhara and surrounding areas.
The committee, which is headed by Kishor Thapa, secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development, comprises of joint secretaries from the MInistry of Home Affairs; Ministry of Local Development and Federal Affairs; and Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation; among others, CIAA said in a statement.
The committee has been asked to submit its report to the CIAA by the end of Kartik (mid-November).
The constitutional anti-corruption body formed the committee based on a preliminary report prepared by its officials. The officials had conducted a study on the overall situation of lakes in Pokhara.
“The CIAA will make sure that all recommendations of the committee will be implemented,” the statement quoted CIAA Chief Commissioner Lokman Singh Karki as saying.
